Applies to the mobile application TUVAMBES GeoCam : GPS Camera (package com.tuvambes.geocam) and the online checker at tuvambes.in/geocam/verification.
TUVAMBES GeoCam is an on-device field camera that stamps the location, time and — when you measure — AR measurements onto your photos and videos, and signs each capture. It is a field documentation tool, not a certified surveying or measuring instrument. Positions come from your phone's location service: satellite positioning (GNSS, such as GPS, NavIC or Galileo), assisted by Wi-Fi and mobile networks when your phone uses them. Please review these limits before relying on what the App records. This page summarises them; the Terms of Service & EULA (sections 7, 9, 14 and 15) govern.
1.Not a certified land-surveying instrument
TUVAMBES GeoCam uses your phone's location service, motion sensors and compass. It is not a dual-frequency RTK or geodetic receiver, a certified land-surveying instrument or a calibrated measuring device. It must not be relied upon as the sole basis for:
- Legal cadastral boundary demarcation or property title registration disputes.
- Civil engineering or structural safety decisions where precise, certified measurement is required.
- Any legal or statutory boundary proceedings requiring certified surveyor seals.
For legally contested boundaries or regulatory property subdivisions, engage a licensed surveyor using certified surveying equipment. Do not rely on anything the App records for navigation, legal, safety, emergency, medical, surveying, construction, engineering, insurance or any other critical purpose — confirm important values with proper instruments.
2.AR measurement tolerances & optical approximations
AR measurements — distance, path, area, slope, rectangles, circles, crack width, depth, box volume and cylinders — are worked out on your phone using camera tracking by Google Play Services for AR (ARCore) and, on phones that provide it, depth. Their accuracy depends on:
- Adequate light (measurements degrade in dim light or strong glare).
- Surface texture (plain, reflective, transparent or glossy surfaces are hard to track).
- The phone, its camera and sensors, the distance to the object and how steadily you move the phone.
Every measurement is shown with a ± estimate, which is the App's estimate of the uncertainty — not a guarantee; a measurement can be outside it. Outlines, boxes and cylinders the App finds by itself, and points moved onto a nearby corner or edge, are suggestions you must check. Measuring on the photo assumes the object lies flat, in the same plane as the reference you drew along, and faces the camera. Very fine cracks (a few millimetres or less) cannot be measured reliably. AR measurements are estimates for preliminary field work; confirm them with calibrated tapes or laser rangefinders before structural work, material orders or safety-critical decisions. This application runs on Google Play Services for AR (ARCore), which is provided by Google and governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
3.GPS satellite reception & environmental interference
The coordinates stamped on your media are the position your phone reports at the moment of capture. Their accuracy depends on your phone and on conditions such as:
- Urban canyons: tall buildings reflecting satellite signals (multipath).
- Canopy & indoors: dense trees, tunnels, metal roofs and basements blocking the view of the sky.
- Magnetic interference: power lines, reinforced steel, vehicles and magnetic mounts distorting the compass direction. When the GeoStamp shows the compass or direction, the App asks you to calibrate the compass (move the phone in a figure 8) if the phone reports it inaccurate; it can still be tens of degrees out.
Where the GeoStamp shows an accuracy figure, it is your phone's own estimate (a statistical radius), not a guarantee. Altitude and speed are what the phone reports and may be far off, especially indoors. The time comes from your phone's clock. A phone's location or clock can be falsified (for example by a mock-location app); the App records a mock-location flag when the phone reports one, but it cannot detect every case.
The Plus Code, the address and the map are all worked out from these coordinates, so they share their accuracy. On the App's map, captures within about 20 metres of each other share one marker, so a marker can stand for nearby but different spots. The tilt recorded with each capture and the Ghost overlay's angle guidance (“Orientation matched”, auto-shutter) also come from the phone's motion sensors and compass: they help you line photos up but do not guarantee the same position or view.
4.Map visual display & street address reference
The map on your media is drawn by the Google Maps SDK for Android on your device, with Google's logo and attribution kept as Google draws them. The street address comes from your phone's location service (its geocoder). Maps, street names, addresses and boundaries are for visual reference only and may be inaccurate or out of date; TUVAMBES does not warrant that they reflect current administrative changes. Addresses translated on your device are marked “Translated by Google” and may contain errors; the English version prevails. Without internet, the GeoStamp leaves out the map and the address and keeps the date, time, coordinates and Plus Code.
5.Media authenticity vs. physical scene reality
TUVAMBES GeoCam's signature shows whether a file — its picture or video, its signed record and the location written in its details — has changed since GeoCam saved it on the phone that signed it. A check gives one of four results — Verified; Verified – Mark-up, Verified – Measurements or Verified – Mark-up & measurements; Modified; Unverified — explained in section 9 of the Terms. It is a technical aid, not a certificate or a legal guarantee. A result does not show:
- Whether what was in front of the lens was staged, arranged or manipulated before the capture.
- Whether filters, tinted glass or masks were placed over the camera.
- That the location or time the phone reported was correct (see section 3).
- That mark-up or measurements added in the App before saving are accurate.
- That a Before photo picked from your phone is genuine — it is not a GeoCam capture and carries no GeoCam signature.
- That a scanned barcode or QR code is genuine or what it identifies — the App records a code's contents as it reads them, never checks them and never opens links in a code.
PDF and Excel reports, and Before & after side-by-side images and wipe videos, reproduce your captures' details as recorded; they are not signed originals. Check the original captures when it matters.
Whether a capture, result or report is accepted as evidence, and the weight it carries, is for the court or authority to decide. The person who captured the media remains responsible for the truthful depiction of real-world conditions.
6.Limitation of liability & user responsibility
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TUVAMBES GeoCam is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. You decide whether and how to rely on positions, directions, measurements, translations and verification results, and you should check important values independently. TUVAMBES Technologies and TUVAMBES Enterprises are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from reliance on them, as set out in section 15 of the Terms. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits rights or liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you, including your mandatory consumer rights.
7.Features that depend on your phone
- Dual camera. Dual video, and both cameras at the same instant, need a phone that can run its rear and front cameras together (photos about 3 MP each, video up to Full HD). Otherwise Dual camera takes photos only, one camera then the other about a second later, so they may show slightly different moments.
- Portrait + landscape. The second file is cropped from the middle of the same frame, so it shows less of the scene; the second video is recorded in HD.
- Video qualities. 8K, and 60 fps at Full HD and 4K, are offered only on phones that record them for apps; 8K files are large (about 600 MB a minute) and the phone may stop a recording when it gets hot. Video stabilisation is used only on phones that support it and may crop the picture slightly, as the preview shows.
- AR measure. Needs a phone supported by Google Play Services for AR; boxes, cylinders and depth need a phone that gives depth.
- Night mode. Brightens dark scenes with longer exposures, so pictures can show more grain or blur when the phone or the subject moves; how much it helps depends on the phone's camera.
The App shows what your phone supports. We do not warrant that any feature or quality is available on a given phone.
8.Google Drive backup & restore
Google Drive backup (Pro) copies the captures you choose to your own Google Drive; Restore from Google Drive (any plan) brings them back. Both depend on Google, your Google storage space and your network:
- Backups and restores may be delayed or paused — for example without Wi-Fi when you chose Wi-Fi only, when your Google storage is full, or when access must be given again. A capture is backed up only when the App shows it in Drive.
- With Free up phone space on, a backed-up capture keeps only a preview in the App; it can then be brought back only from your Google Drive. If you delete it there, change it, or lose access to your Google account, the App cannot recover it. Copies you saved to your phone gallery are never removed.
- Restore brings back only captures GeoCam put in the Google Drive you connect, and only those that still carry GeoCam's signature; a file changed in Drive comes back marked as changed or is left out.
- If your plan lapses, new backups pause; your backups stay yours and can still be downloaded and restored on any plan.
Google Drive is a Google service under Google's own terms; we do not warrant its availability. See the Terms (section 12) and the Privacy Policy (section 6).
